For the connection between the LCD backpack and the main board, we will assemble the 10p flat cable.

The connectors have teeth that are pressed through the isolation of the cable to connect to the copper strands.

Slide the cable into the connector and push them down. The connectors have a marking on one side (a little triangle) that should align with the black strand on both sides. That means that the protruding bit faces in on one side faces out on the other side. My hands are not strong enough to push it through (and I'm a rock climber), so I recommend doing it like this (sorry no pictures): lay the cable on your desk with the smallest part. Now gently push the down with a flat object. Do NOT wiggle, go straight down.

Fold back the cable over the connector and gently insert the strain reliefs.

You can now connect the LCD backpack and the main board.

For the connection between the rotary encoder and the LCD backpack you got a 0.1 pitch Molex jumper cable. Pull off the sides.

For the connection between the rotary encoder and the LCD backpack you got a 0.1 pitch Molex jumper cable. Pull off the ends.

Bend the cable and insert it into the rotary encoder board on the side that has the marking.

Repeat the procedure on the LCD backpack side
